Borrador. Draft. This text describes how Tempo works today, but it has not yet been reviewed by a legal professional. The paid plan must not be offered until it has been reviewed and the details marked as pending are complete.

Pendiente:Pending: plazo exacto, a confirmar.
In short
- You can use Tempo without an account: then it does not ask for your name, email or password, and your data stays in your browser.
- If you create an account (email link or Google, no password), Tempo stores your email and copies your games, analyses, cards and progress to the cloud so you have them on all your devices.
- If you buy the Pro plan, Stripe handles the payment: Tempo never sees or stores your card details.
- There is no advertising, analytics or third-party trackers, and Tempo does not use cookies.
- You can delete your account and everything in the cloud whenever you want, from your account page.
Data controller
Pendiente:Pending: name or company name of the owner, with tax ID (NIF) Pendiente:Pending: tax ID and address at Pendiente:Pending: address. Contact for any privacy matter: Pendiente:Pending: correo de contactocontact email.
Data that stays on your device
Everything you do in Tempo is saved in your browser’s local storage (IndexedDB and localStorage): the games you import, their analyses, your mistakes, the review cards and their history, your streak, your points and achievements, the use of the plan allowances, the names you appear under in your games and your theme, language and sound preferences. The detail, key by key, is in Cookies and storage.
Without an account, that data is not sent to Tempo or to anyone: the owner cannot see, copy or recover it, and if you clear the browser’s data or switch devices it is lost unless you have downloaded a backup from Settings. With an account, it is also synced to the cloud, as explained below.
Data that passes through the server
Your account
If you create an account, Tempo stores your email address and an internal identifier. With the email link, we send you a message with a single-use link. With Google, Google tells Tempo your verified email and the basic profile data you choose to share (for example, name and photo); Tempo does not use your Google password, which it never sees. Tempo keeps a session in your browser so you do not have to sign in every time.
Sync
While you are signed in, Tempo copies to the cloud the games you have imported, their analyses, your mistakes, the review cards and their history, your streak, your points and achievements, and the progress settings saved alongside them. Each account can only read and change its own data: the database enforces that rule itself, not just the application. If you delete something on one device, the deletion spreads to the others. Analysis with the chess engine always runs in your browser; the server only stores the result.
Pro plan payments
Payment is made on Stripe’s payment page, not in Tempo. Stripe receives your email and payment details and processes them as controller of its own service. Tempo only receives the customer and subscription identifiers, the plan (monthly or yearly), the status and the period end date, which are stored with your account so it knows you are Pro. Tempo does not see or store your card details.
Importing with your username
When you import with your Lichess or Chess.com username, your browser sends that username to Tempo’s server. The server asks the platform for that user’s public games and returns them to you. Neither the name nor the games are stored on the server this way. The platform receives the username looked up and the address of Tempo’s server, not yours.
If you paste or upload a PGN, it does not go through the server: it is read in your browser.
IP address and request limit
To prevent abuse, the server counts imports per IP address: at most 12 every 10 minutes. The IP is not stored in the clear: the server turns it into an irreversible fingerprint (using a secret key) and that fingerprint, with the request count, is stored in Tempo’s database so that all server instances share the count. It is deleted after 24 hours at most.
Hosting logs
Like any website, the hosting provider logs technical data about each request (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser) to operate and protect the service. Provider: Pendiente:Pending: hosting provider, country and retention period of its logs.
What it is processed for, and on what legal basis
| Processing | Purpose | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Your account email and session | Identifying you, sending you the sign-in link and keeping you signed in | Art. 6(1)(b): providing the service you request |
| Synced training data (games, analyses, mistakes, cards, progress) | So you have it on all your devices and do not lose it | Art. 6(1)(b): providing the service you request |
| Subscription status (plan, status, period end) | Switching the Pro plan benefits on and off | Art. 6(1)(b): performance of the contract |
| Billing and payment data, at Stripe | Charging the subscription and meeting tax and accounting obligations | Art. 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(c): contract and legal obligation |
| Lichess or Chess.com username, when importing | Fetching the games you asked for | Art. 6(1)(b): providing the service you request |
| IP address fingerprint in the request limit | Preventing abuse of the import and respecting the platforms’ limits | Art. 6(1)(f): legitimate interest in the security of the service |
| Technical hosting logs | Operating and protecting the site | Art. 6(1)(f): legitimate interest |
No automated decisions with legal effects are made, and no profiles are built, with this data.
Who receives data
- Supabase, as data processor: hosts the database and the sign-in system for accounts. The project is in the European Union (Ireland). Pendiente:Pending: processing agreement and safeguards for international transfers with the provider, pending review.
- Sign-in email provider: sends the message with the sign-in link to your address. Pendiente:Pending: email provider and country, still to be set up.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google: it learns that you signed in to Tempo with your Google account.
- Stripe, only if you buy the Pro plan: processes the payment and the billing of the subscription.
- Google (Gemini), only if you ask the AI coach for something: to explain a mistake it receives the board position and the moves (yours and the best one); for a training plan, the numbers from your notebook (how many mistakes, how serious, and the tactic behind them). It does not receive your email, your name or your full games, and the request leaves Tempo’s server, not your browser.
- Lichess (lichess.org, France) or Chess.com (United States): they receive the username you look up, only when you import from that platform. It is public data from their own services.
- Hosting provider, as data processor: Pendiente:Pending: identity, processing agreement and, where applicable, safeguards for international transfers.
No data is sold or passed to third parties for commercial purposes.
How long it is kept
- The data in your browser: until you delete it yourself (from Settings or by clearing the site’s data in the browser).
- Your account and the synced data: until you delete the account. When you do, they are removed immediately from Tempo’s database.
- Billing data at Stripe: as long as tax and accounting obligations require, even if you delete the account. Pendiente:Pending: exact period, to be confirmed.
- The IP fingerprint for the request limit: 24 hours at most.
- The hosting logs: Pendiente:Pending: the period applied by the provider.
Your rights
You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability. You exercise a good part of them yourself, directly, without asking anyone:
- Access and portability: “Download a backup” in Settings generates a JSON file with your training data.
- Erasure: “Delete all my data”, in the same place, removes it from this browser. “Delete my account”, on your account page, removes the account and everything in the cloud, and cancels the subscription if you have one.
- Subscription: you can cancel it and manage your payment method and invoices from Settings.
For anything else (for example, correcting the account email or the data processed by the server or the hosting), write to Pendiente:Pending: correo de contactocontact email. If you believe your right has not been honoured, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es).
Minors
To create an account, children under 14 need the consent of their parents or guardians, as Spanish law establishes. Without an account, Tempo collects no personal data on the server and does not ask for your age.
Changes to this policy
If the way Tempo processes data changes, this text and the date of its version will be updated.
